    Find the next item in a sequence of numbers, letters, or words. Example: 2, 6, 12, 20, ? (Answer: 30, differences increase by 2). Focus on arithmetic sequences, geometric patterns, and mixed operations.

  • Coding-Decoding

    Decipher a code applied to words or numbers. Example: If CAT is coded as DBU, what is DOG coded as? (Answer: EPH, each letter is shifted by +1). Practice letter-shift codes, number substitution, and reverse coding.

  • Classification (Odd One Out)

    Identify the item that does not belong to the group. Example: Apple, Mango, Carrot, Banana (Answer: Carrot, it is a vegetable, not a fruit). Look for differences in category, property, or pattern.

Non-Verbal Reasoning

Non-verbal reasoning questions assess your ability to analyze shapes, patterns, and spatial relationships without relying on language.

  • Pattern Recognition

    Identify the rule governing a sequence of shapes or figures and predict the next one. Look for changes in rotation, shading, number of elements, size, and position from one figure to the next.

  • Figure Series

    Similar to pattern recognition but typically involves more complex transformations. Figures may rotate, flip, gain or lose elements, or follow a combination of rules simultaneously. Practice breaking each figure into individual components and tracking changes.

  • Mirror Images

    Select the correct mirror reflection of a given figure or letter combination. The reflection may be along a vertical or horizontal axis. Practice with letters, numbers, and complex figures to build speed.

  • Spatial Reasoning

    Questions involving paper folding, cube nets, block counting, and embedded figures. These test your ability to mentally manipulate shapes in two and three dimensions. Regular practice is essential since this is one of the most challenging subtypes for most students.
